Mini-course on commutative rings, integer-valued polynomials and polynomial functions in Graz, Dec. 16-18, 2012

The mini-course will take place at the mathematics department of TU Graz - Graz University of Technology - Steyrergasse 30, 8010 Graz, Austria.

It is followed by a conference on commutative rings, integer-valued polynomials and polynomial functions Dec. 19-22, 2012.

• Jean-Luc CHABERT: Integer-valued polynomials: combinatorial, arithmetical, algebraic, topological and dynamical aspects

• Sarah GLAZ: Prüfer conditions in rings with zero-divisors

• Alan LOPER: The use of ultrafilters in commutative ring theory

• Irena SWANSON: Integral closure

• Qifan ZHANG: Overcoming the difficulties in finite fields caused by small characteristic

Each of the five mini-courses will consist of three lectures: one hour each on Dec. 16, 17 and 18. The lectures are designed to introduce the methods, techniques and background material essential to many of the talks in the conference on Dec. 19-22.
